Now as much as I love a good suit with a crisply ironed shirt, there is nothing as pleasing to me as putting on that right pair of shoes in the morning, (You should know that I love shoes from this post here.) The laces gripping tight around the top of my foot. It brings a sense of comfort. Ready to take on the day and any adventure that the world throws at me, in those shoes. As important as I have said the suit and shirt have been, I cannot stress the importance of the shoe. The shoe is the soul of the outfit. It can bring it to life or leave it dead from the get go. So pay attention here. It is extremely easy to get this part of the outfit right and equally as easy to get it wrong.
The Cap-Toe
This is another timely classic. It is a much more toned down shoe. It is good for when you are making your second impression. It isn't too flashy, but still shows others that you know what you are doing when you get dressed in the morning. If you are looking for subtlety while making an impression, this is the shoe for you. I currently don't own this shoe, but know that my name is out there I will be adding this to my arsenal.
The Wingtip
This all time classic is my personal favorite. Each pair is a piece of art. Needlepoint pin holes decorate the toe of each shoe, framed by the wingtip texture applied. These shoes are truly a masterpiece. I myself own two pairs and I suggest that everyman have at least one pair in his arsenal.
The Driver vs The Loafer
This driver is the shoe you should not wear. Yes while it looks great with a pair of slacks and knit polo or button up shirt, it is not so aesthetically pleasing with a suit. I myself own several pair of loafers. I have even gone so far as to make the mistake wearing them with a suit myself. The loafer however, is a different story. Again, another timeless classic provided to us by the fashion industry. The original tassel decorated penny loafer is always okay with a suit. In recent years they have begun to make loafers with a wing tip or a cap-toe. With these recent products, I would almost say go ahead and put that loafer on no matter what. However, is your management ready for this generation of fashion? Let us not forget, we don't run the corporations yet but we are certainly on our way.
What shoes are you lacing up or loafer you are boldly boasting?
